Telehandler attachments are one of the incredible aspects of the telehandler that contribute to these machines’ extreme versatility and ability to handle almost any type of job on the construction site. With everything from the classic forklift boom attachment, to carriages and buckets, to attachments that are seriously application-specific like pipe grapplers; telehandlers have a full range of motion when it comes to getting the job done. Let’s have a better look at what these attachments are.
Attachments you can put on your telehandler or telehandler rental
Telehandlers can be fitted with a range of attachments. These include buckets, winches, muck grabs and more. Below you’ll find a comprehensive rundown of what attachments can be used with a telehandler.
Carriages
You can mount any carriage onto a telehandler, allowing you full versatility in load handling and optimal placement precision. Carriages that you can use with telehandlers include but are not limited to: side-shift carriages, side-tilt carriages, standard carriages, swing carriages, dual fork positioning carriages, and 360-degree rotating carriages.
Buckets
The use of buckets on the telehandler can grant you a lot of possibilities on the job site. Just note that telehandlers equipped with buckets are not meant for digging. For securing bulky loads and cleaning up at the job site, throw a grapple bucket on your telehandler. Otherwise, you can clean up using a material bucket, which can also be used to spread gravel, as well as for leveling and loading.
Forklift boom attachment
The forklift boom attachment forks are the classic approach to the telehandler attachment, if we do say so ourselves. Get some cubing, lumber or pallet forks on your telehandler, or even fork extensions, and you’re in business for everything from placing bricks and blocks, to reinforced support in lifting large or long objects (especially lumber). And of course for moving pallets around.
Application-specific telehandler attachments
And then there are those attachments that are for very specific tasks, of which we will mention the five most-widely used:
- The pipe grapple is an attachment intended for handling large pipes or multiple smaller pipes.
- The truss boom is an attachment that can be used with or without a winch, but whose main function is to be able to set trusses and wall section for steel and wood building construction. When equipped with a winch, your telehandler is effectively converted into a crane.
- Sheet material handlers are another type of attachment that are designed to allow operators to place sheet material in windows and entry points in a controlled and efficient way.
- Fork-mounted extendable trusses are designed for lifting and placing objects on the construction site. More specifically, they are an optimal attachment for tasks such as setting wooden trusses, erecting metal buildings and erecting post frame buildings.
- The tire handler attachment is designed to do exactly what its name implies: handle tires. The mechanization of the labor required to mount, remove and handle tires not only increases efficiency, but also reduces risk of on-the-job injury.
Why not add an attachment to your next telehandler rental?
When planning your next telehandler rental, think about all the many attachments you can add on, and add them as an accessory to your rental. Let your telehandler rental really show you what it’s got with the perfect attachment to fit the job.
